Nintendo Wii is going Fit

Here is a link to an article in Farhad Manjoo's Machinist website.

The Nintendo Wii is coming out with a new game called The Fit. The Fit is designed to help people with physical fitness and become aware of how physical fit they are. Japan got The Fit late last year, and a million units were sold in the first month. I hope that this game will help America become aware of how they are obsess and need to do physical activities every day is be healthy. But I do not believe that The Fit will be very popular in America like it was in Japan for the simple fact that America doesn't like to told they are unhealthy. But this is just my opinion about the subject.

CBS bringing back old time shows

Here is a link from CNet News.com website.

CBS is bringing back old shows that will excite many viewers. They are bringing back Star Trek, Melrose Place, Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver, and the Twilight Zone. When I first heard this, I looked at this with as little excitement as possible. But today, I sat down and watched an episode of MacGyver, and I realized that I'm really excited to watch another one. Now that I have the opportunity to watch this show, without paying for it, I'm gonna watch the show as much as possible.
I may be partial, but MacGyver is flippin' awesome.

HD DVD is Out of the Running

Here is a link from CNN.com.

This article says that Toshiba may be ending the product of HD DVD players! I have not bought any Blu-Ray discs, but if Toshiba is serious about cutting product, I'll have to start buying in full. My collection of DVD's is a rather rare kind, there is no one kind of movie. I've got TV series, romance, war, comedy, drama, sci-fi, fantasy, and kid's movies. But if I need to up-grade my DVD player to a Blu-Ray disc player, my fear is that my collection will not play on the Blu-Ray player! The switch from HD DVD to Blu-Ray may not be as bad as the switch from VHS to DVD, but it's quite as frightning to me. The fear is making my mind wonder if I should save some money and just buy a Playstation 3, so I can not only play new video games but also play Blu-Ray discs. I just hope that if the production of HD DVD players comes to a stop, that we will still be able to play our older version DVD's on the new Blu-Ray players!

Digital Age Targeting Younger Kids

Here is a link from CNET News.com.

This article tells us about PBS and how they are going to set up a way for kids as young as three to go online and enjoy playing virtual games. I believe that this is a bad idea. No children that young should be exposed to computer software at that age.
Yes, I know that a child's mind is developing so fast at that age that if they were to be exposed they could, in the end, become quite smart. But PBS said in this report that they will "specialize in creating animated virtual worlds that encourage kids to play games, socialize, and earn points that help them buy virtual goods." PBS will encourage children to socialize online? I thought that we were trying to stop online predetors, not encourage it. Maybe, I didn't get that memo!
I also believe that children should be outside learning how to play physical games like basketball, baseball, soccer, or football; rather than sitting inside a home with their eyes glued to a TV. I just figure that they have the rest of their lives to look forward to being lazy, why start when they are so young?

Internet Cable Cut

Here is a link to CNN News.

This story is about an anchor snapping an internet cable line in the Middle East. The story continues to say that they think the American government had something to do with it. I believe this could POSSIBLY be true, but even still, just dragging a ship anchor on the ocean floor could catch any kind of cable easily and cut it in two.
But what I find quite amazing about this story is that there was a bunch of internet conspiracy theories that were being spread around during this blackout. This cut internet cable made many people go without internet access for awhile, which made other people believe this was done to spread information around the airwaves without anyone knowing about it. But what kind of person thinks they need to cut internet lines to spread a message over the airwaves? The kind of person who probably was responsible for the cut internet line in the first place!

HD DVD vs Blu-ray

Here is a link to a story on HD DVD vs Blu-ray.

This article talks about how Blu-ray seems to be selling more players than HD DVD players; and how around Christmas, they were in a tie with sales. I have to agree with the article in the fact that I'm not ready to give up my HD DVD player, and head over to Blu-ray. But the main reason for that is because the Blu-ray players are so expensive. Every time I went to the store to look at the Blu-ray players, they were over or around $500. And being the college student that I am, I don't have $500 to spare on a DVD player. If Blu-ray players would come down to somewhere between $100 and $200 I would consider buying on. Until then, I think I'll just stick with my HD DVD player!
