Digital Age Targeting Younger Kids

Here is a link from CNET News.com.

This article tells us about PBS and how they are going to set up a way for kids as young as three to go online and enjoy playing virtual games. I believe that this is a bad idea. No children that young should be exposed to computer software at that age.
Yes, I know that a child's mind is developing so fast at that age that if they were to be exposed they could, in the end, become quite smart. But PBS said in this report that they will "specialize in creating animated virtual worlds that encourage kids to play games, socialize, and earn points that help them buy virtual goods." PBS will encourage children to socialize online? I thought that we were trying to stop online predetors, not encourage it. Maybe, I didn't get that memo!
I also believe that children should be outside learning how to play physical games like basketball, baseball, soccer, or football; rather than sitting inside a home with their eyes glued to a TV. I just figure that they have the rest of their lives to look forward to being lazy, why start when they are so young?
